Miss Marie with Prof. "Louie" & The Crowmatix - "Collection" DOWNLOAD - Year: 2003 Woodstock Records | |
The title of this CD "Collection" is named appropriately. Different recordings have been collected over the past few years, songs that Miss Marie has performed with Professor "Louie" & The Crowmatix. Some of these songs you may recognize from previous Crowmatix CD's with new favorites added to complete this CD. Miss Marie, who has her roots in Brooklyn, NY, learned from great R&B, gospel and street corner singers and working with her on this new CD has once again reinforced my opinion that she is a truly gifted musician. Her singing, musical arrangements, piano playing and percussion on "Collection" demonstrate Miss Marie's versatility and consistency showing that she is a great singing stylist and composer. She can take the music anywhere she wants it to go. Her level of total commitment on all performances is undeniable starting from the two original opening tracks, singer-songwriter style, "Fadin' Fast" & "Tear of the Clouds" to gritty bar room blues of "That's Alright" and the down home country feel of "Be Mine On Valentines Day". She shows her pop singing side covering one of her favorite songs "How Can I Be Sure" by The Rascals and her soulful singing can be heard on the autobiographical song "Jackie". Miss Marie plays piano on the final instrumental piece "Melting" which is dedicated to her father who always said "Marie..stick with your music". Anyone who has caught Miss Marie live will agree that "Collection" is long overdue and captures Miss Marie at her best. - Aaron Prof. "Louie" Hurwitz (2003) |
